How is this lamp installed — does it plug into a socket?
This is a hardwired corded pendant: it connects to a ceiling rose in your ceiling (standard UK installation). It does not plug into a wall socket. If you're unsure, a qualified electrician can fit it in under an hour.
The cord is 1.9 m — is that enough, and can it be shortened?
1.9 m measured from ceiling to bulb gives you considerable range for most ceiling heights. An electrician can easily loop or trim the cord at the ceiling rose to your preferred drop during installation.
Can I replace the bulb myself once it eventually fails?
Absolutely. The E27 screw fitting is the most widely available lamp base in the UK. Any E27 bulb from a supermarket, hardware shop, or online retailer will fit — just switch off and let it cool first.
